Piano lessons must be fun and enjoyable. We all learn best when we are relaxed and encouraged. I believe everyone can benefit in so many ways from learning music and the piano is a great place to start. I love helping my pupils on this journey of discovery and finding they can do so much more than they expect.

I learned for a few years as a child but was terrified of my teacher so stopped piano and continued with clarinet, bassoon and singing. I loved playing in orchestras and choral singing. In my 40s I decided to have another go at the piano, finding an amazing teacher who rebuilt my confidence. I’d been learning some Grade 8 pieces just for fun but one day I decided I would have a go at taking the exam after all. I still didn’t expect to end up teaching. But then a couple of friends asked if I would teach their daughters and I discovered I loved it. Things have just grown from there over the last 8 years.

I have continued to develop my playing and teaching skills as there is always more to learn. I belong to several teaching communities which is so good for sharing ideas and learning about new things to try.

I’m happy to teach children from the age of about 6 and there is no upper age limit! Whether you’ve played before or not, it’s never too late to have a go and discover the joy of piano playing.
